Library

 

The Museum has a small library of books (about 200 volumes) on King and Queen County history, books by King and Queen authors, and books and papers on King and Queen families. A computer catalog of the books is available in the library and on this website. Books must be used in the library. Copying service is available. The library is open whenever the Museum is open.

The library has two computers that provide Internet access for research with genealogical information generally available on the Internet. There is no charge (other than admission to the Museum) for use of these facilities.

 

 

Archives

 

The Museum has a collection of documents, maps, account books, deeds, and other papers relating to King and Queen County and its history, as listed in Archives Index, a document of about 70 pages. The contents of Archives are available for research at the Museum whenever the Museum is open. Docents obtain copies and allow viewing in the museum. Copies can be obtained at 25 cents a page.

 

Bulletins

 

The King and Queen County Historical Society Bulletin, published semi-annually since 1953 by the Historical Society, contains articles on events and people in the history of King and Queen County. Thus, they are a wealth of information on King and Queen County history.

The Index to Bulletins, Issues 1–50 (July 1956–January 1981), is available online as a PDF file. This index is 80 pages, and the PDF file is 17MB. Click to see the Index to Bulletins, Issues 1–50.

The Index to Bulletins, Issues 51–100 (1981–2006), is available online as a searchable PDF file. This index is 64 pages, and the PDF file is 7.4MB. Click to see the Index to Bulletins, Issues 51–100.

Notes:
To view Indexes to Bulletins, Adobe Acrobat Reader must be installed on your computer. If you don't already have Acrobat Reader, you can download it free of charge by clicking here.

To search the Index to Issues 51–100, once the index is open in your browser window, look for the "Search" or "Find" box in the toolbar at the top of the screen. Then type in your search word or phrase.

A List of Articles published in the Bulletin (1953–2005) is being prepared and will be added to our website when available.

Copies of any Bulletin, as well as the Indexes to Bulletins, may be purchased at the Museum Store. When ordering Bulletins shown in the Indexes, order the issue number, the first number before the colon in each citation.
